FOR ACTIVE AND RETIRED MARINERS, MARITIME ENTHUSIASTS, WRITERS, TEACHERS & FAMILIES

A voyage back in time. A local history lesson.

The Coast Guard Museum Northwest opened its doors more than 40 years ago. We are located on an active USCG base on Seattle’s waterfront.  Please be prepared to provide identification papers and proof of vaccination at the security gate.  Masks must be worn at all times, no exceptions. Proof of US citizenship such as a passport may be requested to enter.  Call ahead if you have any questions.

The Building

In January 1942, the Seattle Port of Embarkation began operations here at Piers 36 and 37 where USCG Base Seattle and the museum continue today.  This was one of United States Army’s busiest terminals.  Tens of thousands of American soldiers and seamen deployed from these piers heading out for World War II and later the Korean War.
